24th IGB Workshop on: "Regulation of Neural Gene Expression: from Development to Disease"
The discovery of adult neurogenesis has fundamentally changed our idea of how our brain can adapt to physiological and environmental stimuli. It is now challenging to understand how newly formed neurons integrate into functional networks and how their intrinsic properties compare to those of existing neurons generated during development. Another emerging theme is that many genes required for normal neurogenesis and development, as well as for neural stem cell differentiation, play crucial roles in several neuropathological conditions.
The workshop will respond to these questions by gathering international leaders in molecular and cellular neurobiology to
further our understanding in these areas and delve into the transcriptional, epigenetic and signalling regulatory programs
that are operative during embryonic and adult neurogenesis, connectivity and neural network formation as well as in the
aetiology and progression of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders.
