Employer information: The Neurobiology Research Group is part of the Veterinary School of the University of Turin (Italy).
Research is mainly focused on molecular, pharmacological and functional aspects underlying the transmission of nociceptive information in the mammalian spinal dorsal horn. Key facilities include animal housing, fully equipped electrophysiology (patch clamp), and histology laboratories with a confocal microscope; a laser microdissector microscope and a transmission electron microscope and a basic biochemistry/molecular biology unit Job description: The successful applicant will be offered a two year postdoctoral position to investigate new molecular targets for treating diabetes-induced neuropathic pain. Type 1 diabetes will be induced by streptozotocin injections in wild type and transgenic mice.
Nociceptive behavior will be analyzed to monitor the development of pain hypersensitivity.Molecular, morphological and functional changes in spinal nociceptive pathways will be investigated by combined histological and functional approaches.
