GABAergic synapse development. Research in our laboratory focuses on the molecules and mechanisms that underlie GABAergic synapse development. By combining mouse genetics and high-resolution imaging, we explore the role of GABA receptors, cell adhesion molecules and scaffold proteins in the activity-dependent assembly and maturation of GABAergic synapses (Patrizi et al., 2008). The candidate will develop his/her PhD Thesis on one of the priority projects of our group. Interested candidates please contact Marco Sassoè-Pognetto at: marco.sassoe@unito.it |

Role played by androgens and estrogens in the differentiation of sexually dimorphic circuits. Research in our laboratory focuses on the role played by gonadal hormones in the differentiation of neural circuits. In particular we are interested in the differentiation of the parvocellular sexually dimorphic vasopressin system (De Vrie and Panzica, 2006), in which our recent results suggest that androgens may play a relevant role (Martini et al., 2008, Pierman et al., 2008). The candidate will develop his/her PhD Thesis on one of the projects that we are developing in this field. Interested candidates please contact Giancarlo Panzica at: giancarlo.panzica@unito.it |
