The Director of Prioritization and Integration at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), has claimed that the replacement of animal testing for ensuring the safety of chemicals needs further scientific progress and that where alternative methods are not available to assess the hazards of chemicals, animal tests are still needed as a ‘last resort’ [LINK].
