On 19 February members of the UK Parliament (MPs) debated two petitions related to animal testing and non-animal research methods [LINK]. The first petition received more than 100,000 signatures and is on the use of non-animal research methods. The government has responded to the petition saying that it already supports technologies that would reduce the use of animals in research. The second petition received 31,000 signatures and is about a proposed ban on the use of dogs for research purposes.
