We are pleased to announce the First SINS Young Meeting, dedicated to PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers under 35, entitled “Connecting Young Brains To Advance Neuroscience“. The event will take place at the Centro di servizio di ateneo per le scienze tecnologie per la vita (CESTEV) in Naples on June 22-23rd, 2026.
Italian Neuroscience plays a key role in the international scientific landscape, both for fundamental research and for the numerous investigations exploring the molecular bases of nervous system disorders. A crucial contribution to the success of Neuroscience in Europe comes from the work of young Italian scientists, whose research achievements have gained recognition at an international level.
The Young Meeting will provide a comprehensive overview of the new perspectives emerging in Italian neuroscience research. PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers under 35 will be the main characters of the congress, presenting their projects and sharing novel findings. This meeting aims to foster interactions, promote the exchange of ideas, and create a valuable platform for discussion among young neuroscientists. At the end of the event, outstanding young researchers will also have the opportunity to be acknowledged for their exceptional scientific contributions.
This two-day Young Meeting will offer an expanded program featuring:
- Mini-symposia proposed and led by young researchers,
- “Double interview” to explore complementary scientific future perspectives,
- A digital poster session showcasing cutting-edge projects,
- Social evening to promote informal networking and community building.
The event is fully organized by the SINS Youth Committee and the local committee of the University of Naples “Federico II”.

Registration
The SINS Young Meeting is open exclusively to PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers under 35. If you are not yet a SINS member, you can apply through the SINS membership application page on this website. The annual SINS membership fee for members under 35 is €30.
Participants are required to complete the online registration process via the Online Registration System. SINS members must access the platform using their membership credentials in order to be recognized by the system and benefit from the member registration fee. Non-members will be required to create a new account during the registration process.
Please note that registration fees vary depending on your membership status and registration period. Early bird registration is available until May 24, 2026. Late registration applies from May 25, 2026 onwards.
The presentation of an accepted abstract is guaranteed, provided that the presenting author has completed their registration. Presenting authors must complete their registration by May 30, 2026.

Instructions for Authors
We kindly ask all Oral/Symposium Session Speakers to carefully read and follow the instructions below to ensure smooth coordination and timely delivery of their presentations.
Before the Congress- Check the Scientific Program: Consult the updated Scientific Program (soon available) to verify the exact day, time, and room of your session.
- Visit the Venue in Advance: If possible, visit the Congress venue before your session to familiarize yourself with the room.
- Speakers are not allowed to use personal laptops under any circumstances.
- All presentations, including those for symposia, must be sent by email to comitatogiovanisins@gmail.com no later than June 15th.
- Uploading files directly in the conference rooms is strictly prohibited.
- Upon arrival, you can preview and check your presentation at the Slide Centre, with technical support available if needed.
- Presentations must be in PowerPoint format (.ppt or .pptx). Files in other formats (e.g., PDF, Keynote) must be converted before sending.
- A standardized PowerPoint template is available for download and is strongly recommended to ensure visual consistency across sessions.
- Both Windows and Mac workstations are available at the Slide Centre for last-minute edits.

- Arrive at the designated room at least 5 minutes before the start of the session.
- Meet the Session Chairs to confirm the order of presentations and receive any last-minute instructions.
- Respect the allocated time to keep the session on schedule.
- Be prepared to answer 1–2 questions clearly and concisely.
- Session Chairs will notify you as you approach the end of your time and may interrupt if necessary.
- Bring a backup copy of your presentation on a USB device.
- Use common fonts and formats to avoid compatibility issues.
- Arrive early to allow time for unexpected changes or nechnical checks.

We kindly ask all Poster Presenters to carefully read and follow the instructions below to ensure smooth coordination and timely preparation of their posters.
File Format- Posters must be printed in portrait orientation (vertical), with a maximum size of 70 cm width × 100 cm height.
- The title, author(s), and affiliation(s) must be clearly displayed at the top.
- Onsite printing will not be available. Please ensure your poster is printed in advance.
- Posters for Session I must be mounted by 8:30 and removed by 12:00.
- Posters for Session II must be mounted by 13:00 and removed by 17:15.
- Any posters left behind will be discarded. Pins for mounting will be provided near the boards.
- Each poster space is identified by a code (e.g., POSTER ID: 2.10), where 2 indicates the session number and 10 indicates the abstract number assigned within that session.

Call for Abstracts
We are pleased to announce that the Call for Abstracts for the SINS Young Meeting is now open. PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers under 35 are invited to submit their abstracts and contribute to a dynamic scientific program.
The abstract submission deadline was May 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM (CET) Closed.
Abstract acceptance notification: May 13, 2026 (tentative).
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All abstracts must be submitted through the Online Submission System. SINS members can access the platform using their membership credentials. Non-members are required to create a new account before submitting.
Each submission must include the following information:
- Abstract topic: Choose one topic from the list below.
- Authors: Full name, affiliation, e-mail address of the author(s) (specifying the presenting author).
- Abstract title: Must not exceed 25 words.
- Body text: Limited to 300 words.
- Presentation preference: Oral communication, Poster, Digital Poster presentation, or No preference.
- Your role: PhD student (with year) / Postdoc or graduate fellow
Each participant may submit only one abstract. All abstracts must be written and presented in English. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by members of the SINS Youth Committee and the local committee, ensuring quality, novelty, and relevance. Accepted abstracts may be selected for an oral communication, a poster, or a digital poster presentation. Abstracts selected for oral presentations will not be presented as posters.
Accepted abstracts must be confirmed through registration by May 24, 2026. Failure to register by this deadline will result in exclusion from the program.

Call for Symposia
The Call for Symposia for the First SINS Young Meeting is now closed. We thank all young researchers who submitted their proposals and contributed to shaping our scientific program.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Symposium proposals must be submitted in strict accordance with the instructions below by e-mail to the SINS Youth Committee at comitatogiovanisins@gmail.com
The Symposium proposal submission deadline is February 26, 2026 at 11:59 PM (CET).
Acceptance of proposals will be announced by March 16, 2026 (tentative).
SYMPOSIUM STRUCTURE AND GUIDELINES
Symposium Duration:
- Each Symposium will last 90 minutes, featuring four presentations of 15 minutes each, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.
Speaker Requirements:
- All Speakers must be early career scientists (PhD student or post-doc under the age of 35);
- The Speakers should include at least two PhD students;
- The four Speakers must be affiliated with different institutions;
- Gender-balance should be respected.
Symposium Proposal:
- Each Symposium should be proposed by one Chair who will serve also as a Speaker;
- The SINS Youth Committee will assign a second Chair from its own members.
Limitations for Chairs/Speakers:
- Each Chair/Speaker may propose or participate in only one Symposium proposal.
PROPOSAL SUBMISSION
Symposium proposals should address one of the following topics:
- Cognition and Behavior
- Development
- Disorders of the Nervous System
- Excitability, Synaptic Transmission, Network Functions
- Novel Methods and Technology Development
- Sensory and Motor Systems
- Sleep, Autonomic and Neuroendocrine Systems
Multidisciplinary approaches and translatability are strongly encouraged: symposium presentations must be driven by a connection that covers preclinical in vitro and in vivo research, clinical studies, big data and AI-driven application.
Each proposal must include the following information, according to the template:
- Title: A concise description of the Symposium topic (less than 15 words);
- Summary: A brief overview of the scientific background and relevance of the topic (up to 250 words);
- Speakers’ details: Full name, e-mail and affiliation of the 4 Speakers and the titles of their presentations.
EVALUATION
The congress program includes 2 Symposia. Proposals will be evaluated by the SINS Youth Committee.
Evaluation will be based on:
- Scientific relevance of the proposed topics, consistent with the broadest possible representation of the Symposium themes;
- Coherence and complementarity of topics covered within the Symposium.
Additional considerations include ensuring a balanced representation of different neuroscience fields.
