The GISN is a small group of neuromorphologists (about 100 members) that meets annually for a low-cost conference. Many members of the group are affiliated with the SINS. In the past, it has been led by President Prof. Bentivoglio and Prof. Panzica, with Prof. Vercelli serving as the Secretary General. Currently, the president is Prof. Michetti.
The main purpose of the conference, aside from the two or three keynote lectures, is to encourage the participation of young researchers, allowing them to practice presenting their work in public.
The research topics primarily focus on neuroanatomy and neurohistology, both in normal conditions and applied to pathology.
