Description: I am looking for motivated and ambitious researchers to join my new lab at the University of Pavia, Italy.
Funded by a 3-year #FIS2 Starting Grant, CARE-PD will investigate the molecular and functional mechanisms through which the cerebellum contributes to Parkinson’s disease progression. The research program will involve experimental models of synucleinopathy and integrated approaches including electrophysiological techniques, molecular and morphological analyses, investigation of dopaminergic neurotransmission and behavioral assessments. The activity will also include the evaluation of non-invasive neuromodulation approaches based on transcranial magnetic stimulation to assess functional recovery of neuronal circuits affected by the disease.
Researchers with documented research activity in the field of neuroscience, with particular reference to neurophysiology, neural circuit biology and/or neurodegenerative diseases are particularly encouraged to apply. Previous experience in animal models of neurological disorders, electrophysiological techniques (patch-clamp, multi-electrode arrays), methods for investigating dopaminergic neurotransmission (fast-scan cyclic voltammetry, synaptic current recordings), molecular and cellular biology, immunohistochemistry, behavioral analysis and synaptic plasticity will be considered preferential qualifications. Experience in stereotaxic surgical procedures and intracerebral microinjections will be considered an additional asset in the evaluation process. Scientific publications, proficiency in scientific English and the ability to work in interdisciplinary research environments will also be evaluated.
