A century has passed since the first EEG recording from the human scalp, a milestone that profoundly shaped our understanding of brain function. Over time, the knowledge gained from noninvasive EEG has been enhanced by insights from intracranial recordings, primarily obtained from epileptic patients undergoing presurgical evaluation. These data create a circular connection between human neurophysiology and clinical neuroscience, fostering a multidisciplinary landscape that continues to expand our knowledge of the brain.

Inspired by this circular relationship, the inTRACE workshop offers an in-person platform for leading experts, researchers, and clinicians to explore the dynamic interplay between clinical practice and neuroscience in human intracerebral recordings (sEEG). The event aims to deepen our understanding of sEEG’s role in bridging basic research and clinical applications. Key workshop themes include the reciprocal influence of clinical practice and neuroscience, the neural correlates of consciousness, the mechanisms of sleep, the neural underpinnings of fundamental cognitive functions, and the latest methodological and technical innovations.

Among the confirmed speakers are internationally renowned experts such as Josef Parvizi, Florian Mormann, Viktor Jirsa, Jorge Gonzalez-Rodriguez, and Fabrice Bartolomei. The program will feature scientific presentations, symposia for early-career researchers, and a series of “Clinical Return Lectures” delivered by clinicians to discuss the practical impact of cutting-edge research. Positioned at the crossroads of multiple initiatives, the inTRACE workshop promises to foster dialogue, collaboration, and innovation, propelling the field of neuroscience and clinical practice forward.
